Rusumo Falls

Day Six, part two

On the way home to Kigali from the house dedication in Kirehe, we went to the Rusumo Waterfall at the Rwanda/Tanzania border. Here are a few photographs from that excursion.

Rusumo Falls from a distance. This is a very beautiful place with a terrible history.

Into these tumultuous waters, bodies alive and dead were thrown during the genocide, including the children of Lydia, whom we met earlier today at the house dedication.
Most of the dead were recovered downstream in Uganda.

The river gorge below the falls. So much water churns through this valley.
